Ludhiana- In a major boost to the Shiromani Akali Dal campaign in Ludhiana West constituency today, the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle extended it’s support to the party as well as it’s candidate Parupkar Singh Ghumman.
This development occurred after SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal held a detailed meeting with office bearers of the Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle here. Shiromani Committee president Harjinder Singh Dhami and senior Delhi based leader Manjit Singh GK were also part of the meeting.
The meeting witnessed S Gurmeet Singh of the Study Circle and other members giving suggestions on how the SAD could be strengthened further. They also talked at length about the need to safeguard Sikh institutions and ensure there was no outside interference in their functioning. Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said the party had taken a strong stand on autonomy of Sikh institutions and steadfastly resisted any interference in their functioning as well as their management structure.
Mr Badal in a brilliant address which came straight from the heart, appealed to the Study Circle members to contribute towards strengthening the regional party. “Once the SAD, which represents regional aspirations is strengthened, we can strive to resolve all pending issues of Sikhs”, he asserted. He also thanked the Circle for assuring to support the SAD which stood for the Panth, Punjab and Punjabiyat.
The Study Circle members on their part said they wanted a strong regional party to represent the community as well as Punjab and assured to support Mr Parupkar Ghumman wholeheartedly.
Senior SAD leaders including Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Amarjit Singh Chawla and Bhupinder Singh were also present in the meeting.
