Chandigarh - The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today received a major boost with former minister and senior Akali leader Sikandar Singh Maluka rejoining the party in the presence of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal here.
Welcoming Mr Maluka back into the SAD fold, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said the veteran leader had made an immense contribution to the party and that he was confident he would strive to strengthen it further. “We are witnessing a steady comeback of leaders who had left the party for various reasons in the past. Recently senior leaders Sohan Singh Thandal and Anil Joshi also rejoined the party. I’m confident Mr Maluka’s comeback will pave the way for complete panthic unity in the coming days”. Mr Badal also simultaneously appealed to all Punjabis to come together to strengthen the regional party.
Mr Badal also announced that Mr Sikandar Maluka had also conveyed to him that he would immediately join the party’s ongoing election campaign for the Ludhiana West assembly by-election. “The party is gaining ground in the Ludhiana West constituency with each passing day with Aam Aadmi Party’s Mahila Wing president Preeti Malhotra also joining the SAD few days back”.
