Chandigarh- AAP leader Baltej Pannu has hit back at BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar over his statements regarding drugs, stating that the drug problem is not new but a two-decade-old mess. However, the AAP government is determined to eliminate drugs from Punjab.
Baltej Pannu said that during Captain Amarinder Singh's government, only false claims were made about eradicating drugs. At that time, only drug users were targeted, while the AAP government is taking strict action against drug traffickers and those associated with them.
Pannu challenged Sunil Jakhar, saying that during Captain Amarinder Singh’s tenure as Chief Minister, Jakhar was the Punjab Congress President. During that time, Captain Amarinder took a file to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, which contained the names of corrupt Congress leaders and ministers. Today, all those individuals are in the BJP. If Jakhar has the courage and honesty, he should bring that file and hand it over to the ED for an impartial investigation.
Responding to Jakhar’s statement on corruption, Pannu said that the AAP government has maintained a zero-tolerance policy against corruption since day one. In matters of corruption, the AAP government has never discriminated between its own or others. This is the first government to have taken action against its own MLAs and ministers. Pannu questioned Jakhar, asking how many corrupt leaders and officers faced action during the Akali-BJP and Congress governments?
