Patiala -The spectacular theatrical and musical production ‘Humare Ram’, being organised under the aegis of the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of Punjab, captivated audiences during its two-day staging in Patiala. Held at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law in collaboration with Sanatan Seva Samiti, the production received an overwhelming response, with large numbers of people attending on both days.
Presenting lesser-known and unexplored facets of the Ramayana through theatre and music, the special production kept the audience engaged with its compelling narrative, powerful dialogues, impressive performances and soulful music. Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Maan, Mayor Kundan Gogia, Sanatan Seva Samiti District President Sumeet Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, ADCs Damanjit Singh Mann, Anuprita Johal and Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Vice Chancellor of the Law University Prof. Jai Shankar Singh, SP Mohit Aggarwal, SDM Gurdev Singh, Richa Goel and Harjot Kaur Mavi, besides a large number of councillors and residents of Patiala, were present.
Renowned actor Ashutosh Rana, portraying Ravana, won thunderous applause for his powerful dialogue delivery and commanding stage presence. Rahul Bhuchar, in the role of Lord Shri Ram, also received widespread appreciation for his impactful and sensitive portrayal of the character.
Adding further grandeur to the production, soulful musical performances by renowned singers Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher enhanced the overall atmosphere and emotional impact of the presentation.
On the concluding day, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal thanked the Sanatan Seva Samiti for its cooperation as well as the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department of the Punjab Government, saying that it was a matter of pride for Patiala to host a production like ‘Humare Ram’.
MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Maan and Mayor Kundan Gogia, who were specially present on the occasion, said that productions like ‘Humare Ram’ play an important role in taking India’s rich cultural heritage and centuries-old traditions to the people in a new and impactful manner. They said such initiatives are particularly important for connecting the younger generation with India’s rich cultural and literary heritage.
The large number of spectators who attended the shows on both days also appreciated the initiative of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. They said that presenting unexplored facets of the Ramayana through a contemporary theatrical format would help connect people, particularly the youth, with India’s rich cultural heritage and the timeless values associated with it.
As part of this cultural initiative, the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department of the Punjab Government, in collaboration with Sanatan Seva Samiti, is organising a total of 41 shows of ‘Humare Ram’ across the state. The initiative aims to take this spectacular theatrical and musical production to people in different parts of Punjab and introduce them to the lesser-known and untold chapters of the Ramayana.
