Sri Amritsar- Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj had summoned some MLAs and leaders affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to appear in person at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib at noon on October 15 to submit their explanations in connection with the matter involving Payal MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura of Ludhiana.

However, following a call by the family of Parwinder Singh of Mansa, who was killed for raising his voice against drugs, for a Punjab bandh on October 15, 2026, in protest against his murder, the appearance of summoned MLAs has been rescheduled. As per the directions of the Jathedar, fresh letters have been issued to the summoned MLAs, asking them to appear in person at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib at 11 am on October 16.

Secretariat in-charge Bagicha Singh said a meeting of the scrutiny committee had also been scheduled at the Secretariat on October 15, during which parties concerned with various cases had been called. However, in accordance with the directions of Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, the meeting has been postponed for the time being in support of the Punjab bandh call. The next date of the meeting will be communicated to the parties concerned.
