Kaumimarg Bureau/ Manmohan Singh | October 14, 2026 07:29 PM

Mohali -Misl Satluj Party President Sardar Ajaypal Singh Brar has strongly condemned the killing of Parminder Singh Jhota, who had raised his voice against drug abuse and drug trafficking, and appealed to all Punjabis to extend their full support to make the Punjab bandh on October 15 a success. He announced that theMusl Satluj party would actively participate in efforts to ensure the success of the bandh.

Sardar Brar said that drug trafficking and illegal activities were on the rise in Punjab, even as the state government continued to make tall claims about eradicating the drug menace. He questioned the credibility of the government’s anti-drug campaign, asking what purpose such claims served if the lives of those raising their voices against drugs could not be protected.

He said the killing of Parminder Singh Jhota had raised serious concerns about the law-and-order situation in Punjab. The police administration, he alleged, was failing to safeguard the lives and property of citizens, while the growing audacity of drug traffickers remained a matter of grave concern. He stressed that instead of relying on statements and assurances, the Punjab government must take concrete and decisive action to dismantle the entire drug trafficking network.

Taking aim at the state government, Sardar Brar alleged that Punjab’s resources were being used to serve political interests rather than public welfare, and that the government was functioning at the behest of the leadership in Delhi. He asserted that Punjab needed an administration committed to protecting the people, safeguarding the future of its youth and ensuring public safety.

Sardar Manjit Singh Chahal, the party’s candidate from the Patiala Rural Assembly constituency, demanded an impartial investigation into Jhota’s killing. He called for stringent punishment for those found guilty and justice for the bereaved family.

Sardar Brar also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, holding him morally accountable for the deteriorating situation. He said the Punjab bandh was an opportunity to raise a united voice for the eradication of drugs, the protection of citizens and the delivery of justice.

He added that Misl Satluj Party leaders and workers were making organisational arrangements across cities, towns and villages to mobilise support for the bandh and ensure its success.
