Patiala-Rattan Kumar Mittal, Chief Engineer, Distribution South Zone, Patiala, informed that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has issued directions to all Drawing and Disbursing Officers to update the required records in the pension package so that pensioners and family pensioners can receive their due financial benefits in a timely manner.
The matter came to light during a meeting between PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, the PSEB Joint Forum and the Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch Punjab. It was brought to notice that due to the dates of death of certain pensioners and dates of birth of some family pensioners not being recorded in the pension package, difficulties were being faced in processing benefits such as Old Age Allowance and LTC.
Upon examination, it was found that the Date of death of 2, 109 pensioners and the date of birth of 876 family pensioners had not been updated in the records. As a result, some eligible pensioners were facing difficulties in availing themselves of LTC, Old Age Allowance and other admissible benefits.
Taking serious note of the matter, PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, has directed all concerned DDOs to complete the required exercise within 15 days, so as to ensure smooth and timely disbursement of the financial benefits due to pensioners and family pensioners.
In this regard, PSPCL issued a letter dated September 23, 2026, directing all DDOs to immediately verify the records of pensioners. The required data is to be updated promptly on the basis of the relevant documents. In case any document or information pertaining to a pensioner is incomplete, the concerned office has been directed to contact the pensioner directly and facilitate completion of the required formalities.
