Chandigarh-Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party State President Kewal Singh Dhillon launched a scathing attack on the Punjab Government’s education policy, saying that the so-called education model of the Aam Aadmi Party government has completely failed. He said that while the government is making tall claims of bringing an education revolution, the ground reality is entirely different.
Dhillon said that around 31, 000 teaching posts are lying vacant in government schools across Punjab, while government colleges are also facing a shortage of around 2, 400 professors. In addition, around 3, 000 teaching posts are vacant in aided colleges, raising serious questions about the state government’s education system.
He said that when schools do not have enough teachers to teach children, merely painting and beautifying school buildings cannot bring about an education revolution. He said that it is not empty buildings, but qualified and adequate teachers who form the real foundation of an education system.
The BJP State President said that the closure of seven government schools during the tenure of the government also raises serious questions about its performance in the education sector. He said that on the one hand, the government is making claims of an education revolution through advertisements, while on the other, thousands of teaching posts remain vacant in schools.
Dhillon said that an education revolution cannot be brought about through publicity alone. It requires adequate teachers in schools, better facilities for students, and quality education.
He said that instead of focusing on publicity, the government needs to fill the vacant posts of teachers and professors in government schools and colleges so that the students of Punjab can receive quality education.
He said that on this crucial issue concerning the future of Punjab’s children, the government has failed to take concrete action on the ground and is merely making claims.
