Defeated on Development & Governance, Opposition Has Turned Fake Videos Into Its Election Strategy: Baltej Pannu

CHANDIGARH- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Media In-Charge and State General Secretary Organisation Baltej Pannu pointed out that the opposition parties, particularly the Akali Dal, are resorting to fake videos and misinformation because they have no issue left to raise against the Bhagwant Mann Government. He said that the Congress, BJP, and Akali Dal have made targeting CM Bhagwant Singh Mann their sole agenda as they are unable to challenge the government’s work on development, governance, and public welfare.

Baltej Pannu stated that the success of the Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna has unsettled the opposition, leading to attempts to create confusion among people. He said that while the AAP government has fulfilled more promises than it made to the people, the opposition has no roadmap for 2027 and is relying on propaganda and misinformation.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Punjab General Secretary Organisation and Media In-charge Baltej Pannu said that for the past few days, opposition parties have been creating unnecessary noise and confusion, with leaders of the Congress and Akali Dal openly amplifying each other's propaganda. "Whether it is the Congress, Akali Dal or BJP, all of them have only one target: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. They have no agenda for Punjab and no vision for the future; their politics revolves solely around attacking Bhagwant Mann, " he said.

Baltej Pannu showed two different videos to the media, one original and other fabricated by Akali Dal, and said that Akali Dal manipulated and circulated a fake video of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to suit its political narrative. “The original video was from Chanarthal village in Fatehgarh Sahib district, where the Chief Minister was interacting with women during a public meeting and seeking their suggestions on how they would utilize the financial assistance to be provided under the government's 'Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna’, ” he added.

"The opposition has realized that it cannot fight the next election on the basis of development, governance or public welfare. Therefore, it has chosen fake videos and misinformation as its political weapon, " Baltej Pannu said.

He added that the overwhelming response to the Chief Minister's ongoing public outreach programs has unsettled opposition parties. "The massive crowds gathering wherever Bhagwant Mann goes have made them nervous. Instead of connecting with the people, they are busy manufacturing fake narratives, " he said.

Baltej Pannu said that since coming to power, the AAP government has consistently delivered on its promises. "Free electricity began within 3 months of forming the government and continues uninterrupted. Every major welfare initiative of the Mann government is being discussed not only across India but globally as a model of governance, " he said.

Highlighting the government's recently announced financial assistance scheme for women, Baltej Pannu said that registration has already begun and beneficiaries will start receiving payments from July 1. "Women will receive three months' assistance together in the first installment. The government has made complete budgetary provisions for the scheme, " he stated.

He said the announcement has rattled the opposition because they know that once women start receiving the promised financial support, their politics of misinformation will completely collapse. "They are desperately trying to create confusion and somehow stop this scheme because they know that after its implementation, they will have no political ground left to stand on, " he said.

Baltej Pannu also criticized the BJP, stating that despite repeated visits by its national leaders to Punjab, they have failed to make any meaningful announcement for the state or address pending issues such as Punjab's withheld funds.

Taking a dig at opposition parties, Baltej Pannu said, "No matter how many fake videos they create, they cannot stop the people of Punjab from recognizing the truth. The women of Punjab understand who is working for their welfare and who is trying to deprive them of their rights."

He asserted that the AAP government has fulfilled all its major election guarantees and delivered even more than what was promised to the people. "The opposition knows it has no answer to the Mann government's performance and no roadmap for 2027. That is why it has resorted to fake videos, propaganda and fear-mongering, " he added.

Baltej Pannu concluded by saying that the people of Punjab have repeatedly rejected divisive and deceptive politics and will continue to support governments that work honestly for their welfare and progress.
