New Delhi, May 7 (IANS) Delhi Lieutenant Governor and DDA Chairman T.S. Sandhu on Thursday welcomed 1, 647 new recruits of the Capital’s key land-owning agency, urging them to play a foundational role in the journey toward Viksit Bharat@2047 led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at an event organised at the Yamuna Sports Complex to hand over appointment letters, the Lieutenant Governor said, “Under the leadership of PM Modi, the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ is the national goal.”
The PM has rightly said that “wth innovative ideas, energy and purpose, Yuva Shakti is at the forefront of nation-building”, said Sandhu.
Urging the new recruits to give their best, Sandhu said, “We are living in an era of profound transformation… We are currently traversing the ‘Amrit Kaal’, a defining period where our actions today will determine the India of 2047.”
He said in this journey toward a ‘Viksit Bharat’, your role is not just supportive — it is foundational. “The role of personnel entering public service is central to achieving our national objective of a Viksit Dilli and Viksit Bharat by 2047, ” said Sandhu.
“As you step into your roles, you are becoming part of an institution that plays a central role in shaping the future of Delhi. The work you will do — whether in administration, planning, engineering, or field services — will directly influence how this city grows, how its spaces are designed, and how its citizens experience everyday life, ” said Sandhu at the Niyukti Samaroh.
In the presence of Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Srinivas R. Katikithala, Sandu said, “You are entering service at a time when cities are facing complex challenges — rapid urbanisation, environmental pressures, and increasing expectations from citizens. Addressing these challenges will require not only technical competence, but also commitment, innovation, and ethical clarity.”
He asked the new recruits of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to see their roles as an opportunity to build systems that are fair, efficient, and responsive.
“The decisions you make, the diligence you show, and the standards you uphold will define not just your career, but also the credibility of the institution you serve, ” he said.
Sandhu asked the new recruits of the DDA to remember that public service is also about people.
“Behind every file, every project, and every policy, there are citizens whose lives are affected by your work. Approach your responsibilities with empathy as well as professionalism, ” he said.
