Sri Amritsar-A meeting of the Dharam Parchar Committee (DPC) was held today at the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) office under the chairmanship of SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. The meeting discussed, among other matters, the observance of the 300th martyrdom centenary of Shaheed Bhai Tara Singh Wan on March 14, 2026, and plans to further intensify the Amrit Sanchar (initiation) movement in a special manner from the month of April.
Sharing details, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the 300th martyrdom centenary of Shaheed Bhai Tara Singh Wan will be commemorated by the SGPC with the support of the Sikh sangat on March 14, 2026, at Gurdwara Shaheed Bhai Tara Singh Ji at village Wan in district Tarn Taran. He informed that a special Nagar Kirtan will be organised on March 11, followed by the commencement of Sri Akhand Path Sahib on March 12, after which continuous religious congregations (diwans) will be held. Advocate Dhami stated that the main centenary event will take place on March 14, which will be attended by the Singh Sahibans, the Jathedars of the Takht Sahibs, and prominent personalities of the Sikh community. He said that centenary observances provide an important opportunity for the Panth to reconnect with and promote its history and heritage, and urged the sangat to participate in large numbers so that these occasions become truly memorable.
Advocate Dhami further said that during today’s meeting of the Dharam Parchar Committee, it was also decided to further energise the Dharam Parchar movement by significantly accelerating a series of Amrit Sanchar programmes from April onwards. Under this initiative, DPC preacher jathas will visit villages to inspire the sangat to partake in Amrit. Special Gurmat programmes will also be organised during this period.
Additionally, a meeting of the SGPC’s Education Committee was held, in which matters related to educational institutions managed by the SGPC were discussed.
