Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Aman Arora congratulated the people of Punjab on the successful conduct of the elections and said the polling held on the 14th was among the most peaceful and fair local body elections in recent times, conducted smoothly and without incident.
“With results continuing to come in, a decisive and one-sided mandate is clearly visible in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party. I congratulate all Punjabis for strengthening democracy and for placing their trust in good governance, ” said Arora.
He congratulated AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, party leaders, MLAs, candidates and especially the dedicated volunteers, stating that the victory is the result of the AAP government’s performance over the past few years and the tireless hard work of party's volunteers at the grassroots.
In the Zila Parishad elections, out of a total 354 zones across Punjab, results for 71 zones were declared at the time, clearly indicating a strong lead for the Aam Aadmi Party. The Shiromani Akali Dal has won 1 zone, Independents have emerged victorious in 2 zones, and the BJP has won 1 zone, highlighting a largely one-sided trend in favour of AAP in the declared results.
“Nearly 85% of the declared Zila Parishad results have gone in favour of AAP, which clearly reflects the people’s confidence in our policies and leadership, ” Arora said.
In the Block Samiti elections, out of a total 2, 863 blocks across Punjab, results for 1, 275 blocks had been declared at the time of this press conference, showing a clear and decisive advantage for the Aam Aadmi Party. Calling it a one-sided victory for AAP, Aman Arora noted that while counting through ballot papers is a slower process, the trend unmistakably shows Punjab’s tilt towards the Aam Aadmi Party and the policies of the Punjab government.
“We went to the people’s court with the work done by the AAP government over the past four years. The people of Punjab have put their stamp of approval on our governance, ” he said.
