Painting Workshop Commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Year of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib Begins at Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana

Sohana-Panjab Digital Library, in association with Punj-āb Fine Art Society, commenced its three-day Painting Workshop commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Year of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib at Gurduara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana today.

The workshop began with Ardas, remembering Guru Teghbahadar Sahib, Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Dyala Ji and Bhai Sati Das Ji, invoking the spirit of martyrdom that defines this historic commemoration. Baba Mukhtiar Singh Mukhi USA, Sant Singh, Harjinder Singh, President Gurduara Sahib, Retd. Colonel J.S. Multani along with the organizing team, Davinder Pal Singh, Executive Director, Panjab Digital Library, Harvinder Singh Khalsa, Punj-ãb Fine Art Society and Amrinder Singh, Ex Member SGPC inaugurated the workshop with deep reverence and humility.

A vibrant group of 28 artists from across Panjab arrived to participate, including noted names such as Gurpreet Singh Naam Dhari, Satnam Singh Moga, Manveer Kaur (Patiala), and H.S. Naaz, among others. The artists began their work with high energy and devotion, creating paintings inspired by the life and legacy of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib.

The atmosphere on the first day remained focused, contemplative, and creatively charged. Artists spent the day sketching, and bringing to canvas moments from Guru Sahib’s life that have shaped centuries of spiritual and cultural thought in Punjab.

Panjab Digital Library and Punj-āb Fine Art Society aim to preserve, reflect upon, and artistically interpret the martyrdom of Guru Sahib and his Sikhs who gave their life in defense of freedom, conscience, and truth, ensuring that these stories continue to live on through contemporary visual art.

The workshop will continue until Sunday, December 7, 2025.
