Akhand Path Sahib to Begin on October 26 in Repentance for the Sacrilege at Kaulpur, Samba – Jathedar Gargajj

Sri Amritsar-To atone for the act of sacrilege and negligence in the management that occurred recently inside Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at Koulpur village in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has directed that a Sri Akhand Path Sahib be held from October 26 to 28.

He stated that after the conclusion (Bhog) of the Akhand Path Sahib on October 28, the local Sikh community at the concerned Gurdwara Sahib in Koulpur village will henceforth be able to congregate daily with devotion and reverence towards Guru Sahib.

Giving details about the matter, S. Bagicha Singh, in-charge of the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, said that as per the directions of Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, a three-member committee had been constituted comprising S. Surjit Singh Tugalwala (member, Executive Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee), S. Sakhwarsh Singh Pannu (member, Dharam Parchar Committee), and S. Harbhinder Singh, in-charge of the Sikh Mission Jammu and Kashmir.

This committee, after ensuring proper and organized management arrangements at the Gurdwara Sahib, submitted its investigative report to the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib yesterday.

S. Bagicha Singh further said that based on the report received, Jathedar Gargajj has ordered the holding of Sri Akhand Path Sahib as repentance for the sacrilege. Accordingly, the Akhand Path Sahib will commence on October 26 and conclude with Bhog on October 28.

He added that, as per the recommendations and sentiments of the local Sangat and the committee formed to ensure the smooth functioning of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Kaulpur, a 31-member Gurdwara Management Committee comprising Amritdhari Sikhs has also been finalized. This committee will carry out its services with devotion and reverence in accordance with the sanctity of Guru Sahib.
