Chandigarh-In a major initiative to promote the ideals of sacrifice and religious freedom among the youth, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has directed all vice-chancellors and college principals across the state—including private and aided institutions—to organize seminars and awareness programs dedicated to the life, teachings, and supreme sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

In his communication to universities and colleges, Harjot Singh Bains emphasized that the programmes, scheduled from October 27 to November 30, 2025, should reflect the Guru’s timeless message of selflessness, human rights, and unity. He further instructed institutions to maintain utmost religious decorum and sanctity during these events.

The minister urged educational heads to invite eminent Sikh scholars to address students, ensuring that the sessions highlight the profound sacrifices made by Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and his steadfast disciples—Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji, Bhai Dayala Ji, and Bhai Jaita Ji (Baba Jiwan Singh Ji)—who collectively stood for the right to faith and freedom of conscience.

Harjot Singh Bains said the initiative aims to connect Punjab’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage with contemporary education, inspiring students to uphold values of justice, righteousness, and moral integrity in all walks of life.
