Sejal Thakkar, the Founder and Chief Civility Officer at TrainXtra. She is a passionate attorney and educator focused on providing employers with specifically tailored employment law and human resources training on a variety of topics including harassment, unconscious bias, bullying, diversity, discrimination, inclusion, and leadership training. She specializes in one-on-one sensitivity training for managers and staff on problems such as harassment, discrimination, and diversity awareness.

Sejal grew up in the city of Chicago, Illinois. She received her bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her law degree with honors from Northern Illinois College of Law. Sejal obtained considerable employment legal expertise after coming to Northern California's San Francisco Bay Area in 2000. She has firsthand experience with discrimination at a young age. She was harassed and mocked in elementary and high school because she was the daughter of Indian immigrants. Despite the fact that Sejal is an American native who speaks unaccented English, she was not spared. Her troubles began when her classmates found that the business across the street from their school was owned by her immigrant parents, who spoke with an accent. She was suddenly the "marginal other" in a country where she was born. These childhood memories stayed with Sejal, allowing her to turn a traumatic experience into a good call to action for change. She developed a desire to utilize her personal experiences and legal skills to educate others about civility, discrimination, bullying, and harassment.

Sejal Thakkar started her company after being inspired by her entrepreneurial parents and her desire for social justice. She promotes psychologically safe work settings and cultures that allow individuals to be genuinely themselves via her training and consulting work. Her advise on how to learn from your errors is fantastic!

She refused to let ignorance, insensitivity, and bullying influence her inner "Ninja." Sejal teaches that harassment will not stop on its own — it is up to all of us to be part of the fight to stop workplace harassment, armed with knowledge she gained from these experiences. Sejal is dedicated to transforming the workplace and educational environments into places of civility by empowering others to contribute to the solution. Her goal is to empower each employee to make the workplace a better place to work.

Sejal's passion for training led her to start TrainXtra, a proactive training firm where she uses her extensive employment law knowledge to provide customized training to executives, managers, and non-managers in an interactive, engaging setting. She has over thirteen years of employment law experience, including advising clients, HR personnel, and legal counsel on sound, standard hiring practises.

Many organizations throughout the world value Sejal's work. She is a fantastic orator and instructor, with a wealth of knowledge and advanced reasoning. Sejal completed a whole marathon — 26.2 miles – because it was on her bucket list, despite the fact that she hates running. People will love watching her videos on TedX, The Pain, Power and Paradox of Bias.
