Commissioning of EVMs for Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 in Chandigarh

Chandigarh- As part of the preparations for the upcoming General Elections to the Lok Sabha, the Returning Officer Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency Sh Vinay Pratap Singh stated that commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) is going on successfully under supervision of AROs at CCET Sector-26 Chandigarh. EVMs for polling stations under 4 AROs have been thoroughly tested, with ballot papers affixed and candidates set on the machines.

The commissioning process was conducted under the supervision of District Election Officer cum Returning Officer, Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh. Chief Electoral Officer Chandigarh, Sh. Vijay Namdeorao Zade also visited the center and closely monitored the proceedings. The Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India Sh.S.S Gill also visited the centre to supervise the commissioning of EVMs.

The rigorous testing of the EVMs included checking the functionality of each machine, verifying the proper installation of ballot papers, and ensuring the accurate setting of candidate details is being done. Sh. Vinay Partap Singh said that the meticulous process of commissioning underscores commitment to maintaining the integrity and reliability of the election process.

On the first day, 20th May, the commissioning process for polling stations of 2 AROs was successfully completed. The remaining EVMs for polling stations under ARO-5 are scheduled to undergo the commissioning process tomorrow.
