Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) would also be implemented in the state, like in Assam.

Besides this, constitution of a Law Commission is also being considered in the state while a separate voluntary department would also be set up to avail services of intellectuals of society.

The Chief Minister was addressing the people in Panchkula town near here on the last day of the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan organised to inform the people about works done by his government.

With the construction of the Karnal-Yamunanagar (61 km) and Jind-Hansi (50 km) rail lines, the long-standing demand of the people would be fulfilled, a government spokesman said.

The meeting that lasted for over half an hour on Sunday night saw the presence of newly-appointed state Congress President Kumari Selja, too.

Chandigarh, Frontizo Business Services, a joint venture between the Patni Group and Amazon Asia Pacific, on Monday announced to employ 1,000 people for its new centre in Panchkula near here in Haryana, the second and largest centre in India.

The company aims to enroll 350 employees by Diwali and then ramped up close to 1,000 employees by March 2020.

The hiring would happen from Hindi-speaking regions around the centre, Apoorva Patni of the Patni Group said.

New Delhi, Justice D.K. Jain, appointed by NCLAT to oversee the IL&FS resolution process, on Friday approved the transfer of the Gurgaon Rapid MetroRail to Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). It will now be incumbent on the Haryana government on what the way forward will be for the Rapid MetroRail.

The Haryana government could either choose to run the Rapid MetroRail itself or subcontract it to another party.

Mahendragarh, Vikram Gujjar alias Papla, the most wanted gangster of Haryana, who escaped from the Behror police station lockup in Alwar district of Rajasthan on Friday, has a history of jail-breaks.

Gujjar, a native of Kheroli village in the Mahendragarh district of Haryana, escaped when over a dozen criminals carrying fire-arms, including AK-47 rifles, attacked the police station and broke the cell where Gujjar was lodged. They fired indiscriminately to terrorise policemen.

New Delhi, Ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, the Congress on Wednesday appointed former Union Minister Kumari Selja as the state party chief and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as the Congress Legislature Party leader and Chairman of the Election Committee.

The announcements were made by former Union Minister and Haryana Congress in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad and party General Secretary, Organisation, K.C. Venugopal.

Hisar Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday launched the UDAN regional connectivity scheme here that will allow tourists to fly from Hisar to Chandigarh for just Rs 1,674 in 45 minutes.

He took the maiden flight in a seven-seated plane from Hisar to the state's capital Chandigarh.

Before launching the flight, Khattar said with the completion of the expansion work in Integrated Aviation Hub in Hisar within two months, an 18-seater plane would start plying.
