Chandigarh,  From now onwards, commuters in Haryana need not stop their vehicles for checking of documents if they abide by traffic and road safety rules on the roads.

Haryana Director General of Police Manoj Yadav on Thursday said that instructions have been given to all commissioners of police and district superintendents of police to not stop a vehicle for checking of documents if the driver has not visibly violated any traffic rules.

Chandigarh,  The Haryana State Women Commission has issued a notice to Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Digvijay Chautala for his alleged indecent remarks on dancer-singer Sapna Chaudhary who recently joined the BJP.

Digvijay, grandson of former Chief Minister O.P. Chautala, had said: "Ab thumke lagane wali BJP ke liye votes layegi (Now, a dancer will bring votes for the BJP)."

Chandigarh,Three people, including a former employee of the victim, were arrested on Sunday in connection with murder of a well-known doctor and social worker in Haryana's Karnal town, police said.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, whose hometown is Karnal, visited the family of Dr Rajiv Gupta, who was shot dead at point-blank range by three motorcycle-borne masked men late on Saturday evening when he was en route to his Amritdhara hospital at ITI Chowk in his car.

Chandigarh, In another setback to the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in Haryana, two of its sitting legislators joined the ruling BJP on Tuesday.

Nuh legislator Zakir Hussain and Julana's Parminder Singh Dhull joined the saffron party at a function here where Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and state party chief Subhash Barala were present.

Both Hussain and Dhull have resigned from the assembly too.

Chandigarh, The ruling BJP in Haryana seems to be favouring jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who was convicted in August 2017 for raping two of his disciples and is now seeking parole, saying it is his right owing to his "good conduct" in jail.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said here that "every person has the right to request parole and we can't stop anyone". But no decision has been taken on the issue so far.

Chandigarh, Police chiefs of seven northern states -- Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Uttarakhand, UP, Delhi -- and Chandigarh will meet here on June 26 for evolving strategies against drug abuse and trafficking, according to Manoj Yadava, Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), on Monday.

The meeting will discuss challenges and strategies to combat drug abuse. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will be the chief guest and will address the participants at the concluding session.

New Delhi, A week after IANS reported how internet telephony was helping gangsters make a killing from NCR jails, authorities in Tihar jail conducted a surprise check and found two high-end Android mobile phones hidden beneath the bedsheet and pillow of former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala who is lodged there, an officer said on Friday.

The cellphones were recovered from Chautala's possession on Wednesday after officials in Tihar jail conducted a surprise inspection in Jail No. 2.
