Mohali- Senior Congress Leader and Former Cabinet Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the Congress’ Lok Sabha election manifesto, “will provide a solution to ten years of BJP’s disastrous rule in the Centre.” He said that the released manifesto by the Congress High Command will prove to be a game changer in LS Election 2024.
The manifesto, he said, focuses on social justice, state’s rights, gender and sexual equality and welfare of Scheduled caste communities in India. Unlike the BJP’s ten year rule, Congress’ manifesto promises the implementation of Minimum Support Price as calculated by M.S. Swaminathan’s formula, ” he said.
Sidhu said the manifesto caters to provide the right to apprenticeship to the youth, reform the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, introduce employment-linked incentive (ELI) scheme, launch an urban employment programme for the poor, increase the share of manufacturing to 20 percent of GDP, and double the economy in 10 years.
In its 46-page manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the party focused on five “pillars of justice” and 25 guarantees under them. The guarantees included introducing a law on minimum support price for farmers and Rs 1 lakh to women heads of poor families a year, Sidhu added. He said the Congress party not just makes promises but surely turns the promises into reality.
The Congress has opted to omit its promise of restoring the old pension scheme (OPS) from the manifesto ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. The party has promised to work on decreasing the growing unemployment in the country and increasing the income of poor families. The party is committed to abolish the Agniveer scheme and the old army recruitment will be reintroduced. The party will launch the Mahalakshmi Scheme to provide Rs 1 lakh per year to every poor family, ” he added.
