Chandigarh- Chief Electoral Officer Haryana, Sh. Anurag Agarwal said that strict vigilance will be ensured on the sale of illicit liquor in Haryana during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Excise and police department officials will closely monitor this matter and periodically check the records of authorized liquor vendors.
He said that appropriate steps have been taken to enforce a complete ban on the illegal sale, storage, and supply of liquor during the Model Code of Conduct during elections. All concerned officials have also been given strict directions that there should be no illegal sale or storage of liquor during the elections. Immediate action will be taken against anyone found involved in such activities.
Sh. Anurag Agarwal said that police officers, Forest and STF teams have been formed at interstate borders by the district administration to prevent the influx of illegal liquor from outside. A control room has also been established at the Haryana Excise and Taxation Department headquarters in Panchkula to maintain control at the state level.
Through the C-Vigil mobile app, the general public can also lodge complaints about violations of the Model Code of Conduct
Sh. Anurag Agarwal said that ahead of Lok Sabha general elections 2024, citizens need to be vigilant and participate in the elections. Through the C-Vigil mobile app, the general public has been empowered to act as election observers, where they can lodge complaints of violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Citizens can also send photos, videos, and audio through their mobile phones to the C-Vigil app. Action will be taken on the respective complaint within 100 minutes.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that citizens can download this application from the Google Play Store for Android phones and from the App Store for iPhones.The general public can upload photos or record two-minute videos on this app. The photo and video will be uploaded to the app with GPS location. The complaint will be resolved within 100 minutes of filing.
