SKM Flays BJP Fielding Teni, Father of Main Accused of the Lakhimpur Kheri Farmers’ Massacre

Kaumimarg Bureau | March 04, 2024 08:42 PM

New Delhi-Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) strongly protested and condemned BJP for fielding Ajay Mishra Teni, father of main accused Ashish Mishra Teni and also the main conspirator of the dreadful Lakhimpur Kheri Farmers’ Massacre in the Lok Sabha Election 2024 from Kheri Seat in Uttar Pradesh. The peaceful protest of farmers on 3rd October 2021 as part of the historic struggle against the three farm acts and on other demands was brutally attacked by running vehicles over farmers, thus killing Nakshtra Singh, Lavjeet Singh, Daljeet Singh and Gurvinder Singh and one journalist Raman Kashyap. The farmers movement has demanded dismissal and prosecution of Ajay Mishra Teni under section 102 IPC and ensured punishment but the Modi Government has been protecting the Home Minister of State during this entire period. After intervention of the Supreme Court only, the main accused Ashish Mishra Teni was arrested and the prosecution started by the infamous Yogi Adityanath led state government of BJP.

The duress over BJP as a political party to declare candidature of Ajay Mishra Teni exposes the corporate -criminal nexus that grip the BJP led Modi Raj. The BJP has let loose money power and muscle power to suppress the mass protest of farmers, workers, youth, students against the corporate policies that extinguish the livelihood of the people in the last ten years. The corporate-corruption is the base of the money power and BJP depends on criminal elements to douse dissent and crush constitutional democracy and drag India towards dictatorship under the false image built around PM Modi using corporate sponsored media.

SKM in coordination with the Joint Platform of CTU’s and mass organisations of all other sections of the people will face this open challenge of BJP against farmers and the people at large and will declare its response in the Kisan Mazdoor Maha Panchayat scheduled on 14th march 2024 at Ramlila Maidan New Delhi.

SKM calls upon farmers to organise torch light procession in the villages across India against the candidature of Teni in Kheri seat and to expose the corporate- criminal nexus under Modi Raj. The date of protest will be decided by the respective state coordination committees of SKM.

SKM has given a clarion call of Kisan Mazdoor Maha Panchayat at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi and appeals farmers across India to focus on making this action a historic one with peaceful, massive participation. There will not be any other SKM call of actions at Delhi before 14 March 2024. The adjacent states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, parts of Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh will participate massively at Ramlila Maidan while there will be representation and nominal participation from other distant states. The state coordination committees of the distant states have planned padayatra, house campaign and district/ tehsil level Maha panchayat during this period.

SKM strongly condemns the ban by the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry on the film Kisan Satyagraha on the 2020-21 historical farmers struggle at Delhi borders directed by Kesari Haravoo in the 15 chapter of Bangalure International Film Festival (BIFFs). SKM considers this as an act of authoritarianism denying the freedom of expression and democratic values enshrined in the Constitution of India. SKM demands the Modi Government to lift the ban at the earliest.

SKM appeals to the farmers across India to observe International Women’s Day on 8th March 2024 while coordinating with the women’s organisations and other mass organisations. SKM greets all the women farmers in India on this occasion and expresses its determination to work towards the emancipation of the women and fight all sorts of atrocities and discrimination against women.
