Model code of conduct will come into force with the announcement of Lok Sabha Elections – Chief Electoral Officer

Chandigarh – Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Anurag Agarwal stated that along with the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect.

Sh. Anurag Agarwal said this during the meeting of officers regarding the Model Code of Conduct here today.

He stated that all political parties must submit three copies of their election manifesto to the CEO's office in Chandigarh within three days of issuing their manifesto. Sh. Agarwal also stated that if any political party wishes to organize a rally or roadshow, permission must be obtained from the relevant district authority.

The use of loudspeakers is prohibited from 10 PM to 6 AM

He further stated that if a political party organizes a roadshow, there should be no traffic congestion, and no political party can organize a roadshow from where there is a hospital or trauma centre. In addition, the use of loudspeakers is prohibited from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Political parties are prohibited from using photos of temples, mosques, gurdwaras, or churches on their banners

The Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana stated that during the Model Code of Conduct, political parties are not allowed to use any rest house, dak bungalow, or government accommodation. Additionally, no political figure can use words related to caste or religion in their speech, and political parties cannot use photos of temples, mosques, gurdwaras, or churches on their banners.

Election Expenditure Monitoring Team will keep an eye on the programmes of the candidates

He said that an Election Expenditure Monitoring Team has been formed at the district level, which will keep an eye on the various programs of the candidates to ensure that they do not violate the Model Code of Conduct.
