Sangrur-The Congress sounded its election bugle ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections with a massive Insaaf Rally at Phaguwala in Sangrur, the home district of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The overwhelming response marked a significant show of strength for the party in Malwa.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge sharpened the party’s attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government, bringing Punjab’s drug crisis, gangsterism, unemployment and governance failures into focus. The Congress leadership also raised concerns over Punjab’s political autonomy and the state government’s alleged dependence on directions from Delhi, while calling for governance rooted in the interests and aspirations of Punjabis.
The rally highlighted the Congress’s commitment to restoring law and order, tackling drugs, generating employment and ensuring clean, transparent and accountable governance. The party projected its vision of a government that works for Punjabis and remains answerable to the people of Punjab.
The scale of mobilisation was evident, with the venue packed to capacity and a massive influx of cars and buses bringing supporters from across the region. The turnout reflected an extensive organisational effort, with Vijay Inder Singla, former Cabinet Minister and Chairperson of the PPCC Election Management and Coordination Committee, playing a pivotal role in the rally’s preparations and mobilisation. Through meticulous planning and sustained coordination with senior leaders, district functionaries and grassroots workers across constituencies, Singla helped translate the party’s preparations into an impressive show of strength.
The rally marked an important milestone in Congress’s preparations for 2027, combining a strong political message from its national leadership with substantial grassroots mobilisation. The response in Sangrur and the organisational effort behind the rally reinforced the party’s campaign momentum, with Singla’s contribution standing out in the successful execution of this major political event.
