Ludhiana-Er. Rashpal Singh, former Chief Engineer of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited , attended the 41st snnual general meeting of The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana local centre, as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Er. Rashpal Singh observed that engineering extends far beyond technical knowledge and construction. It is, he said, a powerful expression of human intellect, foresight, innovation, and nation-building.
Expressing gratitude to Dr. Sudip Banerjee, Er. Balwinder Singh, and the other office-bearers of the institution, he remarked that such gatherings offer a valuable platform for exchanging knowledge and professional experience while inspiring the younger generation.
Highlighting India’s rich engineering heritage, he cited Nalanda University and the magnificent Kailasa Temple at Ellora as outstanding examples of visionary planning, architectural excellence, and technical ingenuity. He noted that these historic monuments bear enduring testimony to the remarkable engineering skills and advanced understanding of construction possessed by our ancestors.
Drawing upon his long professional career with PSPCL, Er. Singh emphasised that electricity is a vital input for a nation’s economic and social progress. Strengthening power generation, transmission, and distribution systems while ensuring a reliable electricity supply remains one of the most significant responsibilities of engineers.
Urging young engineers to stay abreast of emerging technologies, continuously upgrade their knowledge, and uphold professional integrity and quality standards, he said that artificial intelligence and automation are tools to enhance human capability—not substitutes for human intelligence. He stressed that technological advancement must always go hand in hand with ethics and human values.
Congratulating the institution on successfully organising its 41st annual general meeting, he concluded with an inspiring thought: “Human intellect is our strength, technology is our tool, and nation-building is our mission.”
