Kaumimarg Bureau/ Manmohan Singh | October 29, 2026 09:07 PM

New Delhi- Addressing a press conference here today, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President  Harmit Singh Kalka and general secretary  Jagdeep Singh Kahlon raised pointed questions regarding the recent court proceedings in cases related to the alleged misuse of gurdwara committee funds by former president Sardar Manjit Singh GK. Both dsgmc leaders asserted that no individual can stand above accountability for the gurdwara treasury or for the dasvandh offerings made with devotion by the sangat.

Kalka and Kahlon said that facts concerning these matters have been placed before the sangat and the media for several years. At the time, they noted, attempts were made to dismiss these allegations as a political conspiracy, but in light of the recent judicial proceedings, it has become imperative to respond to the seriousness of these issues. Both stated that when allegations of financial irregularities are levelled against individuals associated with gurdwara service and administration, the sangat has every right to know the truth.
They informed that in the case connected to FIR registered by Sardar Gurmeet Singh Shanti, issues had been raised regarding the alleged manipulation of $100, 000, the printing of the book Sadi Virasat and alleged fake bills. According to both leaders , questions have also been raised about the authenticity of expenditures and bills allegedly incurred from the Delhi committee’s funds. They said that the facts associated with the investigation and judicial proceedings in these cases should be clearly placed before the sangat.
Referring a FIR , the two leaders said that questions had also been raised in that case regarding the alleged withdrawal of Rs 80 lakh from the committee’s funds, as well as transactions involving bills and foreign currency. Both stated that if financial irregularities or the use of forged documents in gurdwara administration are proven, it would constitute not merely an administrative failure but a grave betrayal of the sangat’s trust.
Kalka and Kahlon emphasized that transparency, collective decision-making, and adherence to rules are essential in the financial dealings of the gurdwara committee. They asked: if large sums were spent from the committee’s funds at any point, were the concerned office-bearers and members fully informed? Were the expenditures approved in accordance with the rules? They said that accounting for the sangat’s money is the responsibility of every person entrusted with the service of the gurdwara.
Both dsgmc leaders said that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s history is bound to great traditions of service, sacrifice, and dedication. Earlier sevadars, they noted, set aside personal comfort to serve the gurdwaras and placed the sangat’s trust above all else. For such an institution, allegations of financial irregularities in its administration are an extremely serious matter. Both asserted that the gurdwara’s funds are not any individual’s personal property but a trust held by the sangat, to be used solely for the purposes of Gurbani, seva, and the welfare of the sangat.
The two leaders appealed to Sardar Manjit Singh GK to come before the sangat, clarify his position on these matters, and, if any mistake was made that hurt the dignity of the gurdwara or the sangat’s trust, seek forgiveness from Guru Sahib and the sangat. They said that service in the gurdwara is not merely about holding office; it demands integrity, sacrifice, and accountability.
