Ajay Murder Case: Sunil Jakhar Demands FIR Against Those Responsible and an Impartial Investigation

Kaumimarg Bureau | October 22, 2026 07:40 PM

Chandigarh-Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar today demanded an impartial investigation into the murder in Sant Nagar, Abohar, and the registration of an FIR against those responsible based on the statement the victim gave to the police before his death. He was addressing journalists outside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha alongside the mother and family members of the deceased, Ajay, who had come to seek justice.

Ajay Kumar’s mother and family members had arrived outside the Vidhan Sabha today to stage a protest demanding justice. They were later arrested by the police. Jakhar said he would bring the family outside the Vidhan Sabha every day so that their voice could reach the ears of the “deaf government.” BJP leader Ashwani Kumar Sharma was also present.

Ajay Kumar was shot in Sant Nagar, Abohar, on September 27. He underwent treatment for several days after sustaining critical injuries but ultimately died on October 19. His family has been staging a protest in Abohar demanding justice. According to the family, his post-mortem examination has still not been conducted.

Ajay’s mother and family members said that his brother had testified in the 2015 Bheem murder case, on the basis of which Shiv Lal Doda and his nephew were sentenced to 20 years in prison. The family alleged that their son was murdered following Shiv Lal Doda’s recent release on bail.

Expressing suspicion of a deeper conspiracy behind the incident, Jakhar alleged that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were patronising criminal elements. He said that the provision of armed security personnel to a person convicted of a serious crime and subsequently released on bail should also be investigated. He questioned the basis on which government security was being provided to such individuals.

Jakhar said that Ajay had given a clear statement to the police before his death. However, he claimed that the police had still not registered an FIR based on that statement. He demanded that the victim’s statement be taken seriously, an impartial investigation be conducted, and strict action under the law be taken against anyone found involved in the murder.

Questioning the state’s law-and-order situation, Jakhar said that the government was responsible for ensuring the safety of those raising their voices against drugs and criminal elements under the Aam Aadmi Party government. He appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to ensure justice for Ajay’s family by identifying those responsible and taking legal action against them.
