New Delhi-Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka has revealed that, on the basis of the complaint submitted by him regarding the incident at Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib, the deputy commissioner of police, New Delhi District, has registered an FIR against Arvind Kejriwal and his associates.
President Sardar Kalka and general secretary Jagdeep Singh Kahlon stated that raising political slogans at a sacred and historic religious site such as Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib, deliberately creating disruption, and circulating misleading videos are highly regrettable. Both leaders said that any attempt to use the sanctity and religious dignity of the guru’s house for political activities amounts to hurting the religious sentiments of the sikh sangat.
Both dsgmc leaders emphasised that sikh gurdwara sahibs are not merely places of devotion; they are great centres of the teachings of the guru sahibs, the welfare of all, humanity, service, and mutual harmony. Both leaders said that upholding the sanctity of these sacred places and keeping them free from all forms of political interference is the collective responsibility of everyone.
Sardar Kalka and Kahlon clarified that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee is fully committed to protecting the sanctity, dignity, and honour of the Gurdwaras. Both stated that no form of political activity will be tolerated within the sacred premises of gurdwara sahibs, and every possible effort will be made to take appropriate action, in accordance with the rules, against any act that hurts the dignity of the Guru’s house.
Both leaders said that the sanctity of the guru’s house and sikh maryada stand above the political interests of any political party or individual. Therefore, all parties must respect the sanctity of religious places and refrain from actions that hurt the religious sentiments of the sangat.
