No Politics at the cost of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib’s dignity: Kalka, Kahlon

New Delhi- Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka and general secretary Sardar Jagdeep Singh Kahlon have said, in a joint statement, that the dignity and sanctity of the historic and sacred Gurdwara Bangla Sahib must not be compromised under any circumstances in the guise of political protests.
Both leaders stated that dragging sacred religious places such as gurdwara sahib into political controversies, and blaming the gurdwara itself for the lawful removal of protesters from its premises, is not only misleading but also deeply regrettable.
Both dsgmc leaders said that gurdwaras are symbols of the sikh faith, selfless service, peace, and the noble ideal of the welfare of all. Both also added that respecting these sacred places is the moral duty of every individual, and no attempt to use religious institutions for political gain or to make their sanctity part of a political narrative can be tolerated.
Both clarified that no individual or group has the right to affect the maryada, or established religious decorum, of gurdwara sahib in the name of political dissent or protest. Maintaining the sanctity and dignity of religious places, both said, is a collective responsibility of all.
Sardar Kalka and Sardar Kahlon appealed that the sanctity and reverence of gurdwara bangla Sahib should be kept above political accusations and counter-accusations, and that a restrained, respectful, and responsible attitude should be adopted towards religious institutions.
