Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- On the second day of his Malaysia visit, Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj participated in an interaction session organised jointly by the Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia and the management committee of Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya. Representatives of the Malaysian Gurdwara Council and various gurdwara management committees, besides a large number of local Sikh Sangat and youth, attended the session.
Earlier, upon reaching Kuala Lumpur, Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya and listened to Gurbani kirtan. During the interaction session held in a hall of the gurdwara, he responded to questions from local Sikh representatives, devotees and youth and listened attentively to their views. Suggestions made by the sangat and Sikh representatives were noted so that future priorities could be determined accordingly.
The sangat particularly discussed religious and social issues concerning Sikhs and the difficulties faced by the community. Jathedar Gargajj assured them of concrete efforts to address these issues.
Addressing the gathering, Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj called for greater efforts to connect children and youth with Sikhi for the progress and welfare of the Sikh community. He said the Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Khalsa Diwan Malaysia, Malaysian Gurdwara Council and other Sikh organisations working in Malaysia should ensure that their initiatives for promoting Sikhi and Punjabi Gurmukhi, as well as engaging youth in sports, reach the maximum number of people and every Sikh household.
The Malaysian Gurdwara Council shared that there are around 120 gurdwaras across Malaysia functioning in accordance with the Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct) of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Members of the sangat stressed the need for greater efforts towards Sikh preaching in Malaysia.
Among those present were Sikh Youth Sabha Malaysia Jathedar Manjit Singh, former Jathedar Avtar Singh, former Jathedar Harcharan Singh, former Deputy Jathedar Harcharanjit Singh, Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya management committee president Dalbir Singh, former president Avtar Singh, Malaysian Gurdwara Council president Jagir Singh, Surjit Singh, Baldev Singh Leo and Jaskaran Singh, Media Adviser, among others.
