New Delhi, July 27 (IANS) Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon on Monday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held extensive discussions on the state’s overall development and the welfare of people.
During the interaction, Dhillon apprised the Prime Minister of the current situation, including the state’s economy, industrial sector, the concerns of farmers and labourers, the aspirations of youth, law and order, the menace of gangsters and several other important issues, a statement by the state unit of the party said.
Speaking about the meeting, Dhillon said it was held in a highly positive and constructive atmosphere, and the Prime Minister listened to every issue with great seriousness. He said PM Modi is deeply concerned about Punjab and is already well aware of the state’s prevailing circumstances.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister also shared his experiences of working in Punjab as a BJP karyakarta. Dhillon said despite occupying the country’s highest office, PM Modi remained closely connected with Punjab at the grassroots.
Dhillon said due to the failures and directionless policies of the Aam Aadmi Party government, Punjab is steadily falling behind both economically and administratively. Farmers and labourers, who form the backbone of the economy, are passing through a period of severe distress, while the AAP government has confined itself to false claims and publicity.
He further said the deteriorating law and order situation and poor industrial policies have forced industries to move out of Punjab, leaving the state’s youth struggling in search of employment.
Dhillon said he discussed with the Prime Minister special initiatives for the welfare of farmers and labourers, expansion of industries in Punjab, attracting fresh investments, and restoring Punjab as one of the country’s leading industrial hubs, so that the future of the state’s youth can be secured.
Dhillon said PM Modi’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment towards Punjab are inspiring and will provide a new direction to the state’s development. He concluded by saying that under the leadership of PM Modi, the BJP will establish a double-engine government in Punjab based on its proven model of development.
