Sri Amritsar-When Punjab chief minister  Bhagwant Singh appeared at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on January 15, 2026, in connection with various issues being heard against him, he addressed the matter regarding an objectionable video and said: “This is completely fake.” The chief minister said that he himself also wanted the video to be investigated, that he could provide the addresses of forensic laboratories, and that this is the era of AI (Artificial Intelligence); AI-generated videos have been made not only of him but of others as well. The chief minister further stated that he could explain the facts about the video even with his own eyes, without any forensic analysis.
Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj asked CM Bhagwant Singh to give names of two government forensic laboratories where the video could be examined. The CM agreed to have the investigation conducted.

Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj stated that the matter was connected to the Gurus and that even if the video turned out to be false, no one's character should be assassinated. However, he said that whether the video was genuine or fake could only be determined through forensic examination.

CM Bhagwant Singh told the Jathedar that the investigation could be carried out under his supervision by any forensic laboratory of his choice, and they would arrange it. The Jathedar then asked whether the CM had already had the video examined. In response, the CM said that they had a court order stating that the video itself was false. Jathedar Gargajj replied that he had read the court order and that the court had not ordered any investigation into the video. The CM then said that if Jathedar wished, he was prepared to have a forensic examination conducted.

After this, Jathedar Gargajj again asked the CM to name two forensic laboratories, saying that Sri Akal Takht Sahib would itself conduct an examination of the video. He said that if the video turned out to be false, that would be established, and if it turned out to be genuine, the next decision would be made by the Khalsa Panth.

Jathedar Gargajj further stated that Sri Akal Takht Sahib would independently conduct examinations through two laboratories, but the government should also arrange investigations through two laboratories on its side.

When Bhagwant Singh was questioned about the video, he acknowledged that an investigation into the video was necessary.  If the video is false, no one’s character should be assassinated.
If the video is genuine, the Khalsa Panth will decide the matter.  Bhagwant Singh told Sri Akal Takht Sahib that the video was fake, whereas the investigation found the video to be genuine.
Bhagwant Singh was also informed that Sri Akal Takht Sahib would independently arrange examinations through two laboratories. Bhagwant Singh also said that Sri Akal Takht Sahib could itself conduct the investigation.Even then, Bhagwant Singh was asked to provide the names of two laboratories from his side, which, according to the statement, he has not done to this day.
* Bhagwant Singh said: “Jagman Samra uses drugs; he has to be restrained with chains; he keeps posting such videos. Earlier as well, he had circulated other videos of me from this room. What is the point of a forensic investigation? If you (Jathedar) say so, then we (the government) will have it conducted.”
