CHANDIGARH-Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today demanded strict action against the Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Shutrana, Kulwant Singh for publicly saying that if people will not vote for him he will bolt the polling booth from inside for the municipal committee elections.
“This is shocking and shameful and an attempt to murder democracy in Punjab”, he said, while referring to Shutrana AAP MLA openly talking about booth capturing in Municipal Corporation elections.
The PCC president said it exposes the true face of Bhagwant Mann’s government. “This is the dangerous politics of ‘Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed’— intimidation, pressure, manipulation and misuse of power — now being institutionalised in Punjab”, he remarked.
He recalled that the people of Punjab were promised clean politics, but what they are witnessing is the Delhi model of political bullying and electoral manipulation being replicated here. “Is Bhagwant Mann trying to implement the same playbook in Punjab?” he asked, while adding that the Chief Minister cannot escape responsibility.
Warring said, Chief Minister’s silence will only strengthen suspicions. “I strongly condemn this shameful attack on democratic values and demand that the Election Commission take immediate cognizance, conduct a thorough investigation, and initiate the strictest possible action against all those involved”, he added.
