Chandigarh, May 6 (IANS) Punjab BJP President, Sunil Jakhar, on Wednesday termed the Bhagwant Mann-led state government a complete failure in maintaining law and order and condemned the Chief Minister’s irresponsible statement regarding the twin bomb blasts.

He demanded that the Chief Minister accept responsibility for his failure and resign immediately.

In a message posted on social media, he wrote: “The bomb blasts that took place last night in Jalandhar and Amritsar are a matter of grave concern, but even more alarming is the statement made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

“While the Punjab DGP is stating that Pakistan’s ISI is behind these incidents, the Chief Minister is making politically motivated and irresponsible remarks. His frustration and fear of losing power are clearly visible behind such statements.

"It would be better if he stopped worrying about his chair and allowed the police to do their actual job instead of using them to keep track of MLAs. If MLAs truly decide to leave, the police will not be able to stop them.”

The BJP chief alleged that since the AAP government came to power such incidents have continuously taken place in Punjab.

He said explosions occurring near BSF and Army establishments are extremely serious and expose the government’s failure.

Jakhar said while the state Director General of Police (DGP) is claiming that Pakistan’s ISI is behind the blasts, the Chief Minister “is speaking in a completely different tone and misleading the public”.

He said before making such statements the Chief Minister should remember whose “houses the party supremo stayed in during visits to Punjab ahead of the 2017 elections”.

Jakhar said that “if state agencies are used to protect political power rather than perform their real duties, the state’s security will inevitably suffer”.

Jakhar said from the very day the Chief Minister allegedly arrived in the Assembly in an intoxicated condition, he had believed CM Mann was unfit to hold the office.
