SGPC Releases Rs 43 Lakh for Fees of Sikligar Sikh Children

Amritsar- The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee  has released an amount of Rs 43.03 lakh towards school and college fees for Sikligar Sikh children studying in Andhra Pradesh, including Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.
Acting on the directions of SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta and Surjit Singh Bhiṭṭeḍwad, along with Dharam Parchar Committee Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, personally visited various schools and colleges in Andhra Pradesh and handed over cheques directly to the institutions on behalf of the Sikligar Sikh students.
It is noteworthy that the SGPC has taken a decision to bear the educational expenses of Sikligar Sikh children every year with the objective of making them self-reliant. Under this initiative, the fees for the academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26 have been disbursed.
Speaking on the occasion, SGPC member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta said that the Sikligar Sikh community, residing across different states, is an important part of the Sikh Panth, and the SGPC is continuously making efforts to support the education of their children. He said the primary aim of providing these fees is to educate Sikligar Sikh children so that they can become self-reliant and stand on their own feet in the future. He added that it is a matter of satisfaction that many children, with the support of the SGPC, are completing their education and securing jobs, thereby becoming a support for their families.
Providing further details, Dharam Parchar Committee Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan stated that as per the directions of SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, the fees of Sikligar and Vanjara Sikh children studying in various schools and colleges of Andhra Pradesh were deposited directly with the respective institutions. He said that in accordance with an earlier decision of the SGPC, the entire year’s fees are deposited at one time by personally visiting the institutions, to ensure proper and transparent utilization of the funds.
On this occasion, Dilshah Singh Anand, Supervisor Harminderbir Singh, and Gurdwara Inspector Chanchaldeep Singh were also present.
