Chandigarh-The Punjab Government has appointed Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill as the Vice-Chancellor of The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), Patiala, for a tenure of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office.
Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill brings over 36 years of distinguished experience in academia, research, administration, and international consulting to this prestigious position.
A retired Professor from Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Gill has served in various leadership capacities that uniquely position him to lead Punjab's premier sports university toward excellence, said an official spokesperson adding that Dr. Gill holds a Doctorate from Punjabi University, Patiala (1993).
During his illustrious academic career at Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Gill served with distinction in the School of Management Studies.
Adding to his academic credentials, Dr. Gill rendered services of distinguished nature as Chief Executive Officer for The Coca-Cola Company in Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Nigeria) from 1999 to 2001, bringing valuable corporate governance and strategic management expertise to higher education administration.
Dr. Gill's scholarly achievements include:
84 research publications in recognized national and international journals besides authoring 10 books & Over 400 articles in popular magazines and newspapers on management and allied subjects.
Dr. Gill envisions positioning MBSPSU as India's benchmark for integrated sports education, high-performance sport, and applied research—creating an ecosystem where students, athletes, faculty, coaches, and industry co-create knowledge and translate science into podium performance and sport-sector careers.
He has also served as an Expert on Public Service Commissions in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab.
