Chandigarh, January -Aam Aadmi Party Punjab State Media Incharge Baltej Pannu, while launching a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, said that the poisonous propaganda that has been started by misrepresenting a remark made by former Chief Minister Atishi in the Delhi Assembly and by creating a fake video must be stopped immediately by the BJP. Pannu strongly condemned the attempts of Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar to indulge in politics of hatred in a secular state like Punjab, which is known for its harmony.
Baltej Pannu made it clear that Punjab is a land where religion is linked to human values, not to political interests. He said that attempts to incite religious sentiments for political gain have neither succeeded in the past nor will they succeed in the future. The trend adopted by the BJP in several Hindi-belt states, of dividing society on religious lines and creating an atmosphere of fear, is outrightly rejected by Punjab. The politics of Punjab is based on a shared cultural heritage, mutual respect and democratic values.
Speaking about the Chief Minister, Pannu said that, “Bhagwant Mann is not just a politician, but a sensitive artist and a person deeply connected with social consciousness. Attempts to spread religious malice against him will only further strengthen Punjab’s unity, ” he said. Similarly, he added, attempts to malign Atishi through fake videos are also a matter of serious concern.
Issuing a warning, Baltej Pannu said that no compromise will be made on religious harmony and social unity in Punjab. He asserted that Punjab believes not in politics of hatred, but in inclusive and harmonious politics.
