Sri Amritsar-At a meeting of the Five Singh Sahiban held today at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, various matters were deliberated upon. Subsequently, the Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, has summoned Punjab Government Cabinet Minister S. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh, President along with office-bearers of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), and President of Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) to appear on January 5, 2026.
In this regard, letters from the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib have been sent to the concerned parties on their official email addresses. Secretariat in-charge S. Bagicha Singh said that an explanation in personal appearance had been sought from Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh regarding the depiction in certain images prepared at the memorial of Bhai Jiwan Singh (Bhai Jaita Ji) at Sri Anandpur Sahib, which were contrary to Sikh principles, maryada (code of conduct), and sentiments. Considering S. Sondh’s request for additional time in view of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has now directed him to personally appear at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib on January 5 at 10 am and submit a written explanation.
Bagicha Singh further stated that the DSGMC had convened a special meeting on October 25, 2025, which had been prohibited by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. However, in violation of the order, the DSGMC office-bearers continued with the meeting. Consequently, the President, General Secretary, Senior Vice President, Vice President and Secretary of the DSGMC have been summoned to present their position on January 5 at 11 am. Sri Akal Takht Sahib had sent a letter regarding the prohibition to the official email address of the Delhi Gurdwara Committee on October 25, 2025, but it was not received as the institution had reportedly closed its email. Thereafter, Bhai Manveet Singh, in-charge, Sikh Mission Delhi (SGPC), attempted to deliver the letter by hand in the presence of S. Jatinder Singh, a member of DSGMC, but the office-bearers refused to accept the letter, which constitutes a violation of the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Bagicha Singh also said that the CKD had earlier been asked, in light of previous orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, to provide information specifying which of its members are Amritdhari (initiated) and which are non-Amritdhari. However, the information submitted by them was unclear. Despite being given adequate time, no clear response was received. As a result, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has directed the President of CKD to personally appear on January 5 at 10:30 am with a list of Amritdhari and non-Amritdhari members.
