Chandigarh-Shiromani Akali Dal delegation led by Legal Cell Chairman Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler today filed a written complaint with State Election Commission on non-cooperation of local election officials in various districts and urged it to issue requisite directions to comply with model code of conduct.
Delegation also comprised Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjit Singh Jhinjer besides others.
Talking to the media, Advocate Kler said that it has come to the knowledge of Akali Dal teams officers in various districts are not cooperating in filing of nomination papers by opposition parties. He said that he has received reports that officers were not issuing NOCs and other required documents despite directions issued in this regard by the SEC. He said that conducting free and fair elections were the responsibility of the officers concerned. He said that all those officers who are not doing their duty as per the rules and regulations will be dragged to court as per law of the land.
He urged all officers to cooperate with the opposition parties and not to go by the directives of the ruling party. He said that in the end rule of law will prevail and those working illegally at the behest of the ruling party will have to answer to the courts for their conduct.
