Sri Amritsar:-Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s Actin Jathedar and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, today met the family of the 13-year-old girl who was murdered in Jalandhar and shared his condolences. He attended the Bhog ceremony of the Sri Akhand Path Sahib and the Ardas (Sikh prayer) held at the family’s residence. Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj himself offered Ardas for the departed soul and also recited the Hukamnama for the gathered sangat.
During the visit, Jathedar Gargajj received detailed information about the entire incident from the family and assured them that Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the entire Sikh community stand firmly with them in this difficult time. He said the accused individual acted with a devilish mindset, and such brutality deserves the strongest condemnation. Calling the incident heartbreaking and deeply disturbing, he said the 13-year-old child was murdered with extreme cruelty. He added that Punjab’s tradition has always been to respect daughters, and even in times of war no one would commit such an atrocity against someone’s daughter or sister.
Jathedar Gargajj stated that when the family could not find their child, they informed the police, but the officers returned without conducting a proper and thorough search of the accused’s house. Later, when pressure increased, the girl’s body was found in the accused’s home itself. He said that the police personnel who showed negligence in the initial investigation must be dismissed, as such delay should never have occurred.
Condemning the accused as a devil within society, Jathedar Gargajj said he must be awarded the death penalty as per the law. He added that regardless of the state or religion an offender belongs to, awarding capital punishment in such cases would help stop such horrific crimes in society. He assured the bereaved family of full support in their fight for justice. Jathedar Gargajj also appealed to the Sikh community to remain vigilant against such criminals in society, adding that such crimes do not reflect the character of Punjab.
