SRINAGAR- In a significant community outreach, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu MP (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor of Chandigarh University, met with leaders and members of the Kashmiri Sikh community at the historic Gurudwara Shaheed Bunga Barzulla Baghat, Srinagar.
The meeting focused on addressing key community issues and culminated in the announcement of substantial educational support for the community.During the interaction, community representatives presented the challenges faced by Kashmiri Sikhs, including unemployment and educational opportunities. S. Sandhu assured them of his unwavering commitment to being their voice at national forums and to working towards resolving their concerns.
A key highlight of the visit was the announcement of a ₹10 lakh grant for Guru Nanak Public High School, Tral, to improve the school’s infrastructure and learning facilities. This gesture reflects S. Sandhu’s strong belief that education is the cornerstone of community empowerment.
S. Baldev Singh Raina, Chairman of the United Kashmir Sikh Progressive Forum (UKSPF), warmly welcomed the Hon’ble MP and presented the pressing issues faced by the Sikh community, including the problem of unemployment, for his consideration and intervention.
In his address, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu stated that Sikh community is an integral part of the beautiful social fabric of Kashmir. Their welfare and progress are paramount. By strengthening educational institutions like Guru Nanak Public High School, we are investing in the future of our youth and the entire community. I am here to listen, support, and act as a bridge for your concerns.
The event witnessed participation from a wide array of prominent community leaders S. Gurjeet Singh (President, DGPC Budgam), S. Jaspal Singh (President, DGPC Srinagar), S. Gurmeet Singh (General Secretary, DGPC Srinagar), Dr. Amarjeet Singh (Vice President, DGPC Pulwama), S. Manjeet Singh (President, AISSF), Dr. Hardeep Singh (Chairman), S. Rajinder Singh (President, USF), S. Deedar Singh (Ex-Secretary, DGPC Budgam), Bilvinder Singh (Nishkam Sewa Charitable Trust), and other eminent personalities including S. Varinder Singh Patel, S. Diljeet Singh, S. J.B. Singh, S. Ichpal Singh, and S. Amarjeet Singh.
