Chandigarh – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that tuberculosis can be eradicated completely if every citizen adopts at least one TB patient as a Nikshay Mitra and provides them with regular nutritional kits. He stressed that such a people’s movement would transform the Prime Minister’s dream of a 'TB-Mukt Bharat' into reality.
The Chief Minister on Saturday adopted 72 TB patients from Ladwa constituency in Kurukshetra. At a programme held in Ramkundi village, he personally distributed the first set of nutritional kits to all patients and announced that these kits would be provided for the next six months.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini further said that the government is already conducting door-to-door screening in villages to detect TB cases. Those found infected are given free treatment, and to ensure proper nutrition, the state transfers Rs. 1, 000 every month directly into patients’ bank accounts under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana. This support continues for six months.
He added that the scheme’s scope has been expanded with enhanced financial aid, social support initiatives, and the inclusion of family members through the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The focus also lies on better access to modern diagnostics, special care for vulnerable groups and high-risk individuals, and extended nutritional support.
The Chief Minister said that Nikshay Mitra campaign will be continuously scaled up, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to reducing the TB burden and strengthening public health across the state.
Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Vishram Kumar Meena, SDM, Sh. Pankaj Setia and other dignitaries also remained present on this occasion.
