New Delhi-Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka lashed at former President of the Gurudwara Body S. Paramjit Singh Sarna for announcing to bring DSGMC managed school and under construction college at Bighar in Fatehabad (Haryana) under the control of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar which has majority of members from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to which S. Sarna belongs.
“The way S. Sarna acted when he visited the premises he behaved like an outlaw and hooligan, which is unwarranted for him”, said S. Kalka addressing a press conference in his office. DSGMC General Secretary S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon and office other bearers were also present.
“How can he make an announcement that SGPC will take over the school, it sounds absurd, unrealistic and doesn’t behove of S. Sarna Ji”, said DSGMC President.
On Thursday S. Sarna, along with the members supporting him and employees of the SGPC task force forcibly had entered in DSGMC managed premises which has a school and under construction building of a college and made false allegation that DSGMC has shut the schools, which is not the case.
“We will take legal action and also report matter to the police to begin criminal proceedings against them. I have apprehensions that those who trespassed the DSGMC premises in Fatehabad might lose their membership for taking law into their hands”, said Kalka. They should not indulge in such acts in future, he cautioned.
We are trying to bring school back on the track which has suffered during the tenures of previous Presidents including S. Paramjit Singh Sarna. It was the previous committees which had given bad name to the DSGMC run schools, and things are so complicated that it will take a lot of efforts to rectify, which we are doing and I assure the Sikh Sangat that we will restore the pride of our schools”, announced S. Kalka.
“This is land is 287 acre in the name of DSGMC and baring 40-50 acres entire land has been leased out to the private people, before the present committee took over in 2019”, said S. Kalka.
He informed that in 1996 foundation stone of the school was laid, for which construction of nursery block began in 2000. But it could not bring in students and later it was converted into a primary school, which had about 250 students.
The school was also closed during Covid-19 pandemic and now we are motivating the local population to send their children to the school, informed S. Kalka. He further said that the construction of a building for college was started in 2009 but it could not be completed, due to ulterior motives of the past president.
“From 1996 to 2018 DSGMC had S. Paramjit Singh Sarna and S. Manjit Singh G.K. as presidents of the Gurudwara body”, reiterated S. Kalka.
Speaking on the misuse of Gururdwara donations when S. Sarna was heading the DSGMC, S. Kalka said, he favoured some people close to him and had built Serai at Lawrence Road, Amritsar which is ten kilometres away from Sri Darbar Sahib. Generally serais are built close to the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Darbar Sahib, for the convenience of the pilgrims, but then President of DSGMC had a different motive, which is not acceptable to the sangat.
