6-Year-Old Teghbir Singh Honoured at Sri Akal Takht Sahib for Scaling Mount Elbrus

Sri Amritsar- Six-year-old Teghbir Singh, who recently scaled Mount Elbrus on June 28, 2025, the highest peak in Russia and Europe, was today honoured at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. On behalf of the highest Sikh temporal authority, Officiating Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj honoured Teghbir Singh with a Siropa (robe of honour) and a Sri Sahib (sword) as a mark of recognition for his exceptional achievement. Baba Tek Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib was also present on this occasion.
It is noteworthy that before this, in April 2024, Teghbir Singh became the youngest child to reach the Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal at the age of just five. Later, in August 2024, he set another record by becoming the youngest Indian and Asian child to scale Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj stated that Teghbir Singh comes from a devout Sikh family and his extraordinary achievements at such a young age have brought immense pride to the global Sikh community. He said Teghbir Singh's journey serves as an inspiration for others. Jathedar Gargajj extended his best wishes to the child for even greater accomplishments in the future and offered prayers for the continued spiritual and Chardi Kala (rising spirit) of the entire family. He also encouraged Teghbir Singh’s family to continue supporting him in his pursuits so that he may scale even greater heights.
Teghbir Singh’s father Sukhinder Deep Singh, mother Dr Manpreet Kaur, sister Pavitjot Kaur, maternal grandfather Gurcharan Singh, paternal grandmother Narinderjit Kaur, and great-grandmother (nani) Bibi Balwinder Kaur were also honoured with Siropao by the Jathedars at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
On this occasion, Bagicha Singh, in-charge of the Secretariat at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, and assistant in-charge Jasvir Singh Longowal were also present.
