Srinagar-The United Kashmir Sikh Progressive Forum , under the leadership of Chairman S. Baldev Singh Raina, has strongly demanded a high-level and impartial probe into the mysterious and tragic death of Surjeet Singh resident of Dharamgund, Tral.
In a statement issued today, Chairman Raina expressed deep anguish over the incident and urged the Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Ji to personally intervene and ensure a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation.
“Sikhs in Kashmir are a micro-minority. It is the constitutional responsibility of the administration to protect our safety and fundamental rights, ” said Chairman Raina. “The suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Surjeet Singh have deeply shaken the Sikh community in the Valley, creating fear, unrest, and anxiety.”
The UKSPF has called for a high-level probe and demanded that the truth behind the incident be brought to light at the earliest. The Forum stressed that only a high-level and impartial investigation can ensure justice and restore the community’s shaken faith in the law and order system.
The organization also urged the administration to take immediate and concrete steps to safeguard the lives, dignity, and security of all minority communities residing in Kashmir.
