Sri Amritsar- Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has called upon the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Damdami Taksal, Nihang Singh jathebandis, Sikh organizations, missionary colleges, institutions, and preachers to move forward unitedly to strengthen the campaign for preaching the Sikh faith.
Speaking during a press conference held today at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj emphasized that in accordance with the teachings of the Gurus, everyone should come together to spread Sikhi, especially in light of the current situation of religious conversions in Punjab.
He also extended an invitation to Sikh preacher Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale and other Sikh personalities, whose cases are currently pending at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, to present their clarification so that unity can be established and religious conversions in Punjab can be curbed while intensifying the Sikh religious preaching campaign.
He clarified that if Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale and other Sikh figures wish to work within the mainstream of the Khalsa Panth for preaching the Sikhi, the doors of Sri Akal Takht Sahib are always open to them, provided they come to the Guru’s court with a spirit of humility and surrender, adhering to the philosophy and principles of the Sikh Gurus.
Additionally, Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj announced that a special gathering under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has been convened on May 2, 2025, to discuss the matter of films and animated movies made on the Sikh Gurus, their family members, historical Sikh warriors/martyrs, and various aspects of Sikh history. He noted that the Sikh community often expresses concern over such portrayals and that these issues evoke deep emotions and discontent within the Panth whenever they arise.
He stated that Sri Akal Takht Sahib continuously receives requests from the Sangat to take concrete decisions on these matters, which require serious contemplation due to their sensitive nature. The special gathering has been called to obtain significant input from all Sikh organizations, sampradas, institutions, societies, and scholars who are deeply concerned about the Sikh affairs.
He added that invitation letters will be sent to all concerned bodies and intellectuals, and appealed for maximum participation with constructive suggestions on the matter.
