SGPC President takes strict notice of assault on Sikh man in Kaithal

Amritsar-The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has taken strict notice of the assault of a Sikh man with hateful intention at Kaithal in Haryana and has asked the police administration to immediately arrest the culprits and take legal action against them.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this incident has hurt the sentiments of the entire Sikh world, so the Haryana government should take it seriously and ensure the safety of the Sikhs living in the state.

The SGPC President said that it has been noticed for some time that an atmosphere of hatred is being continuously created against Sikhs in India and Sikhs are being targeted for no reason in different states. It is the responsibility of the governments to protect the religious freedom and rights of the people of every class, every religion and every community in the country. He said strict action must be taken against those who go against the constitution of the country and create a hateful and communal atmosphere.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the resident of Kaithal Sukhwinder Singh being stopped by unknown persons near the city and assault with hate speech like that of repeating 1984 is a manifestation of the growing hate violence in the country, towards which the Haryana and Centre governments have the responsibility to take this phenomenon seriously as such actions are not in the national interest.

Meanwhile, SGPC secretary Partap Singh said that in the case of the assaulting of a Sikh in Kaithal, as per the instructions of SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, an e-mail has been sent to Kaithal Superintendent of Police asking for an immediate action against the accused persons.
