Sri Amritsar- Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, paid homage to all the martyrs of the November 1984 Sikh Genocide, stating that the Sikh community has still not received justice for the massacre carried out in 1984. He said that most of those responsible for the genocide of Sikhs have not been arrested, and several senior Congress leaders remain free even today, while the victim families continue to wait for justice — a dark blot on the face of nation that calls itself democratic.

He stated that when it comes to delivering justice to minorities in India, especially the Sikhs, the government machinery tends to alter its standards and adopt discriminatory attitudes.

Jathedar Gargajj said that Sikhs must realize today that whenever the issue of the Sikh genocide arises, many dominant forces align against the community. He added that it was the duty of the governments and investigating agencies to conduct sincere and honest probes against those accused — including several Congress leaders — but this responsibility was never fulfilled with true spirit of justice. However, he said, the collective Sikh conscience continues to hold all such people guilty in spirit.

He emphasized that any individuals or Congress leaders whose names have been linked to the 1984 Sikh genocide should be socially and morally boycotted by Sikhs and Sikh celebrities. Associating with them, he warned, would amount to rubbing salt on the deep wounds of the Sikh community.

Referring to the recent controversy over Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh touching feet of film actor and former Congress leader Amitabh Bachchan, Jathedar Gargajj said that although Amitabh Bachchan tried to absolve himself of the allegations through a letter sent to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the testimony of eyewitness S. Manjit Singh Saini against him has never been investigated by the government or its agencies. Therefore, in the eyes of the Sikh conscience, Amitabh Bachchan still stands unexonerated.

Jathedar Gargajj said that the 1984 Sikh genocide is something that Sikhs can neither forget, forgive, nor tolerate. He said that throughout history, Sikhs have endured many Ghallugharas (holocausts), yet the community continues to remain in Chardi Kala (high spirits). Today, the Sikh community, with its spirit of resilience, is spreading the divine message of Sri Guru Nanak Dev across the world and earning respect through honesty, dedication, and intelligence.

He further stated that those powers who seek to erase the Sikh identity or destroy the Sikhs are under an illusion, as the Sikhs carry the divine blessing and protection of the Guru.

Concluding his message, Jathedar Gargajj offered prayers before the Guru for the families who suffered during the 1984 Sikh genocide, asking for their strength, resilience, and wellbeing.
