Srinagar – In a heartfelt address during a Gurmat Samagam held at Gurudwara Sahib Shaheed Bunga, Barzulla Baghat Srinagar, Baldev Singh Raina  Chairman of the United Kashmiri Sikh Progressive Forum , made a passionate appeal to the Sikh community to unite in support of the construction of the Guru Nanak Public High School building in Tral, Pulwama.

Reflecting on the past, he stated, “Before 1990, despite economic hardships, our community successfully managed Sikh boarding schools across the Kashmir Valley. It is deeply unfortunate that today, we are struggling to build even one school building for our future generations.”

Highlighting the critical importance of educational infrastructure, especially during times of unrest, he added, “Whenever turmoil strikes the Valley, we advise families to admit their children to our community-run institutions. But how can we do that if the schools themselves lack basic infrastructure?”

Bhai Raina  urged the Sikh community across Kashmir to extend their full support to DGPC Pulwama in completing the construction of the Guru Nanak Public High School, describing the initiative as the “need of the hour.”

He also encouraged Sikh youth to step forward and engage in entrepreneurship, particularly in establishing small-scale industries, underscoring that economic self-reliance is vital for the strength and future of the community.

Baldev Singh Raina also paid solemn tribute to the Shaheed Singhs who laid down their lives for the Panth, honouring their sacrifice with deep reverence.
