266 pilgrims get visas to visit Pakistan on anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Amritsar:  Visas of 266 pilgrims were received for the jatha (group of pilgrims) to be sent to Pakistan by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

This jatha will depart for Pakistan on June 21.

SGPC assistant secretary media S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas sharing the information said that visa applications of 277 pilgrims were sent for attending the Samagam (congregation) related to anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Gurduara Dera Sahib, Lahore and for darshan (glimpse) of other Sikh shrines there.

“Visas of 266 pilgrims have been received. The Pakistan embassy at Delhi has rejected the names of 11 pilgrims”, said S. Ramdas.

He said that the jatha will depart from the SGPC office on June 21 and it will return to the country on June 30.
