Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami condemned the incident at the Gurdwara Sahib in Bhindi Aulakh village in Amritsar district and demanded an impartial probe into this matter.

In a press statement issued from the SGPC office, Advocate Dhami said it raises several questions that the person arrested in Bhindi Aulakh village on Sunday confessed that he was offered money to commit sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

"It is important to conduct an impartial probe into this matter so that the truth could be brought to the light. The repeated incidents of sacrilege are a matter of great concern and the police administration should conduct strict interrogation with such persons", said Advocate Dhami.

The person caught in Bhindi Aulakh village himself confessed that he was offered Rs 1 lakh for committing sacrilege.

"It is a subject of in-depth investigation, in which, the negligence should not be adopted", said Advocate Dhami.

SGPC President said if the confession by the arrested person is true then those people should be exposed who offered money to him.

Advocate Dhami appealed to the Sangat not to be negligent in management and maintenance of the Gurdwaras and it must be ensured that the sewadars are vigil and present at all the times.
